Delta Goodrem has spent more than two decades in the public eye, but the Australian singer has now offered a rare glimpse at a far more difficult side of life behind the spotlight.
Speaking on Stellar’s Something To Talk About podcast, the 41-year-old reflected on the realities that can come with fame and the importance of maintaining clear boundaries as her career continues to reach new heights.
Her comments carry added weight in light of a little-known ordeal that unfolded away from the cameras — one serious enough to involve police.
Delta reflects on life behind the spotlight

Goodrem told host Sarrah Le Marquand that the people around her do everything they can to keep life grounded and protected despite the pressures that come with being a public figure.
“Everybody tries their very best to keep everything in reality and [as] protected as possible with love and compassion,” she said, adding that there are still “boundaries” to her world.
After more than 20 years in entertainment, Delta described life in the spotlight as both extraordinary and challenging.
“It’s amazing, but it’s a real baptism of fire,” she said.
She added that one of the keys to lasting in the industry is having a strong understanding of why you are doing what you do, while learning to block out the surrounding “white noise.”
A serious ordeal unfolded away from the cameras
Those reflections come after authorities became involved in a disturbing situation concerning the singer earlier this year.
According to the report, a man accused of harassing Goodrem online and attempting to locate her address was charged in May with using a carriage service to menace, harass or offend.
Police also sought an apprehended violence order to protect Goodrem and her husband, Matthew Copley.
It was not the first time the singer had faced such circumstances. In 2020, another man was convicted of stalking her.
The incidents provide a striking backdrop to Goodrem’s latest comments about navigating life in the public eye and maintaining boundaries around the world she has built beyond the stage.
A major new chapter for Delta
Despite the more difficult realities that have accompanied her success, the past 12 months have also brought several major milestones.
Goodrem recently represented Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest, where she finished fourth, and also performed at the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony in Glasgow.
She described Eurovision as a moment she would treasure for the rest of her life.
“It was just such a special, treasured moment that I will take with me for life,” she said.
Goodrem also celebrated her wedding to Copley in Malta and is now preparing for another high-profile challenge: competing on the upcoming season of Strictly Come Dancing in the UK.
After that, she is expected to return to music with a world tour and the release of her new album, Pure.
For Goodrem, however, the latest chapter feels less like the culmination of a long career and more like another beginning.
“I’m just getting started again,” she said.
