The controversial groom, who has since left MAFS Australia, previously caused a stir with fans thanks to comments he made about women.
The constriction worker was matched with Brook Crompton, 27, but things didn’t work out between the pair, and they had a messy split.
Now, weeks after his final MAFS scenes aired here in the UK, Chris has opened up about his gambling addictionIn a candid Instagram video, the reality star told his followers: “So since I was 18 years old I have had a gambling addiction that’s pretty much just controlled and ruined my life.
“I’d live paycheck to paycheck, spending money that I didn’t have, spending money on gambling and not on food and going two to three days without food.
“I’m only speaking about this now because I’ve got to the point where I’m like, you know, I’ve just been on this show, I’ve just put myself on national TV.
“They’ve shown this portrayal or this picture of who I am as a person, but it’s not, it’s not me.
“I’ve actually been hiding this little dirty secret. I mean, obviously all my mates and friends know about it, but a lot of people don’t, and I think it’s really holding me back from being able to step up and really succeed in life.”
Continuing he said: “I’m always being afraid or being scared that people will find out.
“Like imagine meeting a woman and they know your history and your financial status; it’s not something to be proud of, and it’s obviously very embarrassing, and no one, we can be honest, no one’s going to be with that, or want to be with that type of person.

“But I think it’s nearly a hundred days clean now, a hundred days without gambling.”
Chris then added: “For roughly 13 years, I was caught in a cycle of gambling that cost me friendships, relationships, and kept me from who I could be.
“As I move forward, I’ve realised that one of the most powerful ways to keep growing is by stepping away from the environments tied to drinking, gambling and drugs.”
Meanwhile, Chris was dubbed the “most hated groom ever” after he voiced some very controversial opinions in his audition tape.
Fans will remember how in episode one he was asked by a producer: “What turns you off?”
The groom responded: “Fake tan, needy and fat people.”
Chris added: “If I turn around and see a short, overweight blonde girl with fake tan, or just caked on little pink cheeks and then the f***ing orange hands I’m gone.”
Before getting hitched he admitted he felt “uneasy” ahead of meeting his bride and didn’t have much confidence that he’d be matched with a woman who ticks all his boxes.

Chris said: “I’d like her to have brunette hair, be physically fit, looks after herself. Those are the basics.
“But knowing how life works, I don’t think that will be the case.”
Meanwhile, it has since been revealed that Chris’ MAFS bride Brook is currently pregnant and engaged to her ex.
The Gold Coast-based model reunited with her former partner just two weeks after finishing filming.
Brook previously spoiled the outcome of her reality TV marriage to Chris for viewers by revealing that, since filming ended last autumn, she has reunited with her ex Harry, who she was dating before the show and is now pregnant and engaged to him.
“It honestly feels like everything has fallen into place,” Brook told Aussie mag Woman’s Day.

“We just couldn’t believe it,” she added, revealing that the news felt even more surreal given that “two separate psychics also told us we’d have a baby together”.
The reality star opened up about the life-changing year she’s had after a disastrous on-screen marriage to Chris.
In the interview with Woman’s Day, Harry said he came crawling back after filming as he “missed her a little too much”.
While Brook’s ex wasn’t overly impressed with her going on the show, he confessed he would never stop her.
The loved-up pair soon jetted off to the Maldives to work on their relationship as soon as she left the show.
Brook told the publication: “Harry invited me away to the Maldives a couple of weeks later for a surfing trip with his family and friends, and that just cemented things for me.
“We just had the most beautiful time. We were better than we had ever been.”
Towards the end of last year, Brook and Harry found out they were set to welcome their first baby.
