Something Has Changed for Danika Mason at Today—And It May Have Everything to Do With the Little Life She’s Waiting For
Danika Mason appears to be making the most of a little extra rest as she prepares to welcome her first child.
The Channel Nine sports reporter has skipped the earliest hours of Today for the second morning in a row, arriving later than her usual start time as her pregnancy progresses.
With a baby girl on the way, the small change to her routine has naturally caught attention — particularly after Danika recently shared the joyful news with Today viewers.

A Second Morning Without the Early Start
The Logie-nominated sports reporter, who normally begins work around 5.30am, reportedly arrived at Nine at approximately 7am on both Thursday and Friday.
The later starts come as Danika prepares for a major new chapter in her personal life.
She is expecting a daughter with her fiancé, former NRL player Liam Knight, with their baby girl due in December.
While Danika has previously revealed that the difficult morning-sickness stage has eased, it seems she is still taking the opportunity to slow down when she can.
Nine has been approached for comment.
Danika’s Joyful Pregnancy Announcement on Today
Danika revealed her pregnancy live on Today in July, sharing the news with colleagues and viewers in an emotional moment.
Sarah Abo, Tom Steinfort, Richard Wilkins and Jayne Azzopardi were among those celebrating alongside her, with the Today team even surprising her with a cake.
Danika explained why she wanted viewers to hear the news directly from her.
“So Liam and I are expecting a little baby.”
She then revealed that the couple are expecting a little girl in December.
The announcement was particularly fitting given Sarah Abo was also expecting at the time, prompting Danika to jokingly describe it as a “little baby boom” on Today.

The Difficult Early Months Are Behind Her
When Sarah asked how she was feeling, Danika admitted the beginning of her pregnancy had been challenging.
She said she had been “quite sick early on”, but was feeling considerably better by the time she made the announcement.
Danika also praised the support she had received from her Nine colleagues, revealing they had looked after her even when she was struggling during her early-morning commute.
And amid all the pregnancy symptoms, there was one particularly memorable craving.
The moment she realised she was pregnant, Danika said she could think of little else but chicken schnitzels.
Liam Knight Is “Over the Moon”
Danika said Liam was thrilled by the news and already excited about becoming a father to a daughter.
“Liam is over the moon. He’s so excited. He’s ready to be a girl dad.”
For the couple, the arrival of their daughter will mark another significant step in a relationship that became public only last year.
From New Romance to Their First Child
Danika and Liam went public with their relationship in July 2024, several months after Danika’s split from former fiancé Todd Liubinskas.
After months of speculation, the couple confirmed their romance on social media, with Liam sharing a photo of the pair embracing.
“My life’s good,” he wrote at the time.
Now, little more than a year later, they are preparing to become parents.
A Very Different Kind of Countdown
Danika’s later starts may seem like a small change, but they come as the sports reporter enters one of the most important periods of her life.
With a December arrival approaching, the early mornings of breakfast television may soon look very different — and for now, it seems Danika is choosing to enjoy every extra hour of rest she can get.
