Thi74-The Block Couple Is Running Out Of Money After Another Brutal Loss

Lisa and Rosco’s Second-Place Streak Hits a Breaking Point — And One Unseen Moment Reveals What They’re Really Facing

For Lisa and Rosco, coming second has become a painful pattern on The Block — and the latest result appears to have pushed the couple closer to breaking point.

After several weeks of strong but ultimately second-place finishes, the West Australian couple again missed out during the Domain Buyers Jury Challenge, with Adam and Jolene taking the $50,000 prize.

On paper, second place still sounds like a solid result.

Behind the scenes, however, it is becoming increasingly difficult for Lisa and Rosco to celebrate it.

The couple are not simply chasing another win.

They are running out of money.

Another second place — and this time, the stakes were enormous

The Domain Buyers Jury Challenge gave each house a rare chance to see how potential buyers actually responded to their homes.

More than 100 prospective buyers and buyers’ agents walked through the five properties before voting for the home they would be most likely to purchase.

For the contestants, there was far more than pride at stake.

The winning team would receive $50,000 in cash, as well as a Domain magazine cover and a lunch with Shelley Craft and Domain’s national property editor Alice Stolz.

For Lisa and Rosco, the money could have transformed the final stage of their build.

Instead, they finished second with 23 per cent of the vote, behind Adam and Jolene on 29 per cent.

And the result hit harder than viewers might have expected.

“I’m just a bit worried”

The day after the Buyers Jury challenge, Scotty Cam, Shelley Craft and Alice Stolz visited the houses to check on the teams.

Lisa and Rosco had every reason to feel proud of what they had achieved.

But once the discussion turned to the remaining work — particularly their landscaping — Lisa struggled to hold back her emotions.

“I’m just a bit worried,” she said through tears.

Her concern was not about whether the house looked good.

It was whether they would have enough money left to finish it the way they had imagined.

2

Their biggest problem was sitting outside

Lisa explained that their landscapers had “really big plans” for the property.

The problem was that those plans required money they might no longer have.

The emotional weight of that became obvious as Lisa spoke about the workers who had been helping bring their vision to life.

She appeared particularly troubled by the thought that the team working behind the scenes might not have enough budget to complete everything they had planned.

It was no longer simply about wanting to win.

It was about being able to finish.

“It’s been a good few weeks of coming second”

Lisa admitted that the repeated second-place finishes were becoming increasingly frustrating.

“We’re really grateful that we’re consistently doing well,” she said.

But there was a painful catch.

“We just… we can’t do anything.”

That sentence captured the problem perfectly.

A high placing means recognition.

A win means money.

And on The Block, those are two very different things.

For Lisa and Rosco, repeatedly coming close without collecting the major financial rewards has left them watching their budget disappear while the work keeps piling up.

Rosco had already warned how much the $50,000 mattered

Even before the results were announced, Rosco had been unusually blunt about the importance of the Domain prize.

“If we don’t win, we’re not finishing landscaping,” he said.

His prediction was stark: without the prize money, there might only be “a few trees and some grass” left outside their house.

So when the couple eventually heard that Adam and Jolene had won, the disappointment was about much more than losing another challenge.

Rosco’s immediate reaction was:

“Crap.”

He then admitted:

“I don’t really know how we go on now.”

The contrast with Adam and Jolene could not have been sharper

Adam and Jolene won with 29 per cent of the vote, securing the $50,000 boost.

Jolene was immediately emotional.

“I’m shocked,” she said. “I’m emotional because that’s our blood, sweat and tears.”

Their victory also came with the Domain magazine cover and an additional advantage for a future challenge.

For Lisa and Rosco, meanwhile, the result left them with something far less tangible: another strong performance, but no major cash injection.

The judges tried to give them perspective

When Lisa’s emotions began to surface, Shelley and Alice attempted to reassure the couple.

Shelley acknowledged that their consistency might not be helping the budget immediately, but suggested that repeatedly performing well showed they were doing something right.

Alice was similarly encouraging, telling them they were close to the end and that the feedback on their home had been extraordinary.

“Your house looks absolutely beautiful, you’ve just got to keep going,” she told them.

For Lisa, though, the reassurance could not completely erase the practical problem.

Beautiful was not the same as finished.

And finished was what they needed.

The pressure is becoming personal

That is what makes the unseen footage so revealing.

Lisa was not crying because she disliked their result.

She was emotional because she seemed to feel responsible for the people working around her and for the vision she had promised them.

Every decision now has consequences.

Every dollar has a job.

And every week without a win makes the final stretch more difficult.

The couple came to The Block wanting a life-changing experience. Nine describes Lisa as a long-time fan who wanted an adventure that would be “challenging and life changing”.

But the experience is now testing them in a way they may not have anticipated.

Second place is starting to mean something very different

There is something particularly cruel about consistently coming close.

Lisa and Rosco are not being left behind.

They are performing well enough to remain near the top — but not winning often enough to give their budget the breathing room they desperately need.

The Domain result made that reality impossible to ignore.

They finished second.

Again.

And this time, the cost of not winning was written directly into the unfinished landscaping outside their home.

What happens next may matter more than another score

With the final stages of the competition approaching, Lisa and Rosco now have to find a way to complete the house with the resources they have left.

The encouragement from Shelley and Alice may have offered them some comfort.

But neither can give them the extra $50,000 that went elsewhere.

Their story on The Block has therefore entered a much more tense phase.

Because being second is no longer simply disappointing.

For Lisa and Rosco, it could determine just how much of the dream they are actually able to finish. 🥺
