Former Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk splits with accused surgeon boyfriend
Former Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has split with her surgeon partner who has been charged with three counts of rape.
Palaszczuk and Dr Reza Adib have parted ways, the Courier Mail reports, as the accused surgeon made a rare public appearance on Friday following his May 1 arrest.
Adib was seen in Rosalie, near the Brisbane CBD, wearing a cap and sunglasses, trying to avoid the public eye.
Locals told the Courier Mail they saw a woman yelling at him in the street.
Adib has vowed to defend the charges against him which include three counts of rape, two counts of deprivation of liberty and one count of sexual assault following a police raid on his luxury Gold Coast apartment.
Palaszczuk told the Daily Mail two days before Queensland detectives raided the Burleigh Heads property and arrested Adib that she was ‘very blessed’ to have him in her life.
The 65-year-old is on strict bail while facing six charges over an alleged sex attack on a woman aged in her 30s on March 30.
Police allege Adib assaulted the woman inside his Burleigh Heads beachfront apartment where he and Palaszczuk lived during their five-year relationship.

His arrest prompted Palaszczuk to cancel her book tour promoting her new memoir, The Politics of Being Me.
The former Queensland premier has not been seen at the luxury waterfront home she once shared with Adib since his arrest.
Sources previously told the Daily Mail the former Queensland premier was ‘re-evaluating the relationship’.
There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing by Palaszczuk.
In 2021, soon after going public about their romance, Palaszczuk said Adib simply ‘makes me happy’.
In the latest blow to rock the embattled surgeon, Adib has been slammed by a coroner investigating the death of one of his patients.
The findings into the death of Gold Coast woman Rosemarie Campbell were published on Tuesday.
Ms Campbell died in February 2022 at her home following complications after a gastric bypass operation performed by Adib only three days prior.

Adib’s case returns to Southport Magistrates Court on July 7.
