Lachie Neale has been spotted enjoying what appeared to be an otherwise ordinary weekend date with rumoured girlfriend Emma Field in Brisbane — but the timing of their latest outing gave the moment a very different feel.

The former Brisbane Lions star and Emma were seen together at Make My Day café near the Gabba on Saturday, just days after their relationship first attracted wider public attention.

On the surface, it was a relaxed and low-key brunch. Yet at almost the same time, fresh reports involving another woman began adding an unexpected new layer to the story surrounding Lachie’s private life.

Another name unexpectedly enters the picture

According to a report by the Herald Sun, Lachie had allegedly been messaging Melbourne socialite Mim Hoyle around the same period he was becoming close to Emma.

Messages attributed to Lachie were also reported to have surfaced, including one in which he allegedly suggested he was interested in seeing Mim more than simply once or twice.

The nature and extent of any relationship between Lachie and Mim has not been independently established.

When Lachie’s manager Tom Petroro was approached about the report, he said his client would not be commenting.

The timing changes the feel of the Brisbane outing

The claims emerged only days after Lachie and Emma were photographed together at Brisbane Airport, bringing fresh attention to a relationship that had previously remained largely out of public view.

Emma, 29, is believed to work in advertising on the Gold Coast after previously living in Melbourne and has developed a sizeable social media following through fitness, travel and lifestyle content.

She and Lachie follow each other on Instagram, while Lachie has also liked a number of her posts.

Against that backdrop, Saturday’s quiet café appearance suddenly carried considerably more interest than an ordinary weekend date might otherwise have attracted.

One small Lachie moment stood out

Despite the renewed scrutiny surrounding his private life, Lachie appeared relaxed throughout much of the outing.

Dressed casually in a white T-shirt, brown trousers, sunglasses and a red cap, he was photographed noticing the nearby photographer before smiling and giving a thumbs-up.

It was a small gesture, but against everything unfolding around him, the moment stood out — appearing to suggest Lachie was taking the growing attention in his stride.

Emma, meanwhile, appeared noticeably more serious in another moment captured during the outing, creating a striking contrast with Lachie’s seemingly carefree reaction.

Neither moment, of course, establishes what the pair were thinking or discussing at the time.

A separate claim was later withdrawn

The latest reports follow another unusual episode involving professional golfer Jack Wright.

Wright initially appeared to claim on Instagram that Lachie had recently attempted to contact his sister through direct messages.

However, he later told the Daily Mail that the comment had actually been written by one of his friends using his account and denied that Lachie had messaged his sister.

Lachie’s manager did not provide a response to that separate claim.

Emma Field was already attracting attention of her own

Long before her connection with Lachie became public, Emma had reportedly attracted interest from reality television casting producers.

Sources cited by the Daily Mail claimed that people associated with Married At First Sight casting had previously followed her on Instagram and shown interest in potentially bringing her onto the show.

It remains unclear whether that interest ever developed beyond initial contact.

Emma previously ran a mobile beauty business with her sister Jamie in Wangaratta, Victoria, before later moving into advertising.

Jules Neale remains focused on her own chapter

Lachie’s former wife Jules Neale is reportedly aware of his new relationship with Emma but has chosen not to become drawn into the attention surrounding it.

According to the report, Jules is focused on her life in Perth with their children.

When Emma was reportedly mentioned to her by a friend, Jules is said to have responded with words to the effect of “Good luck to her” before declining to elaborate.

For Lachie and Emma, what began as a seemingly ordinary Brisbane brunch has therefore landed at the centre of a much wider conversation.

And with another name now unexpectedly entering the picture, Lachie’s understated reaction to the cameras has become one of the more intriguing details of an already closely watched new chapter.
