‘Bum wiping’: AFL star’s mum crashes interview and hilariously embarrasses son
The hilarious comments from the young star’s mum left the panel in stitches and forced the teenager to cover her mouth.
Footy teenager Jack Dalton was hilariously embarrassed on live TV when the Hawthorn star’s mum crashed his interview.
The young Hawks player, 19, starred against the Giants at the MCG on Friday night, kicking two goals and racking up six tackles in a 96-82 victory.
He has made a positive start to life with the Hawks after being selected as the 34th pick in last year’s draft.
And his rise is made even more impressive by the fact that he suffered two broken wrists in a gym accident in March 2025.
As Channel 7 asked him about the injuries following the Hawks’ win over the Giants, Dalton’s mum turned around and found herself in the middle of the chat.
When she was then asked what she had to do to help her son through the ordeal, she replied: “There was a bit of bum wiping.”
Dalton, clearly embarrassed by the comment, covered his mum’s mouth as the panel laughed hysterically at the remark.

She was later asked how proud she is of Dalton, to which she added: “So proud, but so many sacrifices to get to this point, yeah.
“And to think that this time last year, he was pretty much… like that (points to picture of broken wrists).”
Dalton’s mum also put her foot in it when she revealed their family allegiance to both South Melbourne and the Swans.
She said: “My dad played for South Melbourne so, we are a Swans family, sort of… not really anymore.”
Dalton quickly interrupted to say: “No, we’re a Hawks family now… don’t worry.”
Before his mum added: “We love the Hawks… we love the Swans as well.”
Hawthorn sit third on the AFL ladder, six points behind second-placed Swans with eight games remaining of the regular season.
Praising the environment at the Hawks, Dalton said: “It’s such an amazing group of people. And to come into training each week, each day, it’s like the best fun ever. It’s just a bunch of great guys. No ego.
“Everyone wants to get better. Everyone has that same determination and motivation towards the big success at the end of the year.”
